Social Expressions: Telephoning 04

These everyday-life expressions and phrases can help foreign learners acquire spoken English skills so that they can engage in fluent communication. The key expressions will be explained, supported by example, sentences and where relevant, language help notes. Leave a comment by giving an example for each phrase.

goodbye: You say goodbye at the end of a telephone call:

خوات له‌گه‌ڵ (له‌ كۆتایی په‌یوه‌ندی ته‌له‌فۆنی به‌كاردێت)

I must go now. Goodbye!
پێویسته‌ بڕۆم. خوات له‌گه‌ڵ!

Note: If it is an informal call you might say bye or bye-bye instead of goodbye as these are both informal forms of goodbye:
(bye،bye-bye) هه‌ردووكیان به‌شێوه‌ی ناڕه‌سمی به‌كاردێن بۆ خواحافیزی.

It's been good chatting to you again, but I really must go. Bye!
دووباره‌ خۆشحاڵبووم كه‌ قسه‌م له‌گه‌ڵتان كرده‌وه‌، به‌ڵام به‌ڕاستی پێویسته‌ بڕۆم. خوات له‌گه‌ڵ!
