English Proverbs 286 - 288


The following are common English proverbs and short meanings and explanations in Kurdish, leave a comment if you know an equivalent Kurdish proverb for each.

286. An eloquent rooster crows within its egg shell.
كه‌ڵه‌شێری زمان پاراو له‌ناو توێكڵی هێلكه‌كه‌ی بانگ ده‌دات.

واته‌: دیارده‌كانی زیره‌كی وپێگه‌یشتن زوو له‌ ته‌مه‌نی منداڵییه‌وه‌ به‌دیار ده‌كه‌وێت.

287. An empty belly hears nobody.
زگی برسی وبه‌تاڵ گوێ بۆ كه‌س ناگرێ.

واته‌: كه‌سێك زگی برس بێت به‌تاڵ بێت له‌ خواردن و خواردنه‌وه‌ ناتوانێ دیقه‌ت بدات و گوێ بۆ خه‌ڵكی بگرێت چونكه‌ ئه‌و كات مرۆڤ ناتوانێ بیربكاته‌وه‌ وته‌نها له‌ خواردن نه‌بێت.

288. An empty purse fills the face with wrinkles.
كه‌می ماڵ وسامان ده‌م وچاوی ساف ولوس پڕ ده‌كات له‌ چرچی لۆچی.
واته‌: هه‌ژاری ونه‌داری هه‌م وغه‌م وپه‌ژاره‌ به‌دوای خۆی جێده‌هێڵێ و وا ده‌كات له‌ ته‌مه‌نی خۆت گه‌وره‌تر دیاربیت.

LOVE THE POOR

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O God, grant me life as a poor man, cause me to die as a poor man and resurrect me in the company of the poor." His wife asked him why he said that, and he replied: "Because (the poor) will enter Paradise (before) the rich. Do not turn away a poor man even if all you can give is half a date. If you love the poor and bring them near you God will bring you near Him on the Day of Resurrection." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1376

The following are the equivalence of English proverb of Kurdish proverbs. 61. نه‌زان به‌ پێیه‌ك زانا به‌دوو پێ تێ ئه‌كه‌وێ. 61.  clever people often miss their way. 62. لافاو له‌ تكه‌تك په‌یدا ئه‌بێ. 62.  drop by drop the jug is filled. 63. په‌له‌كردن په‌شیمانی له‌دوایه‌. 63.  error is always in haste. 64. كه‌ڵه‌شێر له‌سه‌ر نوێلكی خۆی ئازایه‌. 64.  every cock is brave on his dunghill. 65. قسه‌ كه‌وته‌ زارێ كه‌وته‌ شارێ. 65.  from the lips starts the word and reaches thousands. 66. سه‌بر تاڵه‌ به‌ری شیرینه‌. 66.  everything comes to him who waits. 67. كه‌نگر و ماستیش بۆ وه‌ختی خۆی. 67.  everything is good in its season. 68. هه‌موو سه‌ره‌و ژوورێك سه‌ره‌و خوارێكی هه‌یه‌. 68.  every tide has its ebb. 69. حه‌سوود ناگا به‌ مه‌خسوود. 69.  envy never enriched any man. 70. روخساری جوان پێویستی به‌ ئارایشت نییه‌. 70.  fair faces need no paint.
